Lichfield District Council is offering £177,000 each year for three years, to help fund organisations that work to make healthy and safe communities in Lichfield District.
The application process is now open for not for profit groups and organisations to apply for funding. The three years of funding, which totals £531,000, has been set aside in recognition of the role the voluntary and community sector plays locally, particularly for people who need additional help and support.
The funding will be distributed to groups and organisations that show they will make a positive impact on improving lives, particularly for local residents who are vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Funding awards will go from April 2018 to March 2021, but will be reviewed annually, taking into account performance and the availability of the funding.
The council particularly wants to fund projects and activities that will impact on its chosen outcomes. These are:
- ageing well
- countering social isolation and loneliness
- preventing homelessness
- being more active
- building resilience and improving wellbeing
- supporting volunteering and a thriving voluntary and community sector
Applications are particularly welcome for new or innovative approaches and organisations working together to combine their skills and expertise.
Councillor Doug Pullen, Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services, Housing & Wellbeing, said:
“Creating healthy and safe communities is one of the top priorities in our Strategic Plan. Our local voluntary and community sectors have a large role to play in this, and securing funding will help these organisations deliver their important work.
“We’re hoping to get applications from a broad range of organisations, and will very much welcome applications from organisations that may not traditionally work in this field, but can demonstrate how they can help deliver projects that support our outcomes.”
The prospectus sets out more information about what the council is looking for and the application process.
