Advice for people in care homes or receiving care in their homes

We work in partnership with Staffordshire County Council to provide financial advice and guidance to people who receive care in their homes (through Fairer Charging), or to those who receive financial support for residential/care home costs (through Financial Assessment Services). The new service launched on 1 December 2014.

Why are we working this way?

Staffordshire County Council has tried and tested this new local way of working and it means that residents will have one single point of access, making it easier and quicker for them to get the support they need at the time they need it.

Other benefits include:

  • People will be able to access financial advice and assessment service together in one place at their local district council offices or over the phone.
  • People only have to contact one organisation for benefits advice.
  • Smarter working between public sector partners to reduce duplication and improve costs.
  • Better value for money for taxpayers in Staffordshire.

The new more local service will also help more people to access the benefits they are entitled to, which in turn will help more residents to remain as independent as possible.
