Empty properties

Leaving a property empty can put it at risk of vandalism and arson, and even without these problems an empty property is likely to deteriorate and reduce in value, thereby putting your investment at risk.

We have developed an empty homes policy to try and reduce the number of long term empty homes in the district.

There are currently no grants or loans available for home owners of empty properties from the council. However, if you would like information on bringing the property back into use or on finding a tenant, please contact:

  • Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent trader register - for contact details for trades people who have given Trading Standards their commitment to provide a good service at a fair price.
  • Housing options team - for information on finding a tenant please contact the housing team on 01543 308715 or email housing@lichfielddc.gov.uk
  • Housing strategy team - to discuss the market for housing and bringing an empty property back into use please contact us on 01543 308231 or via email to housing@lichfielddc.gov.uk.
