More people, more active, more often
We’ve secured more than £600,000* community infrastructure levy funding from local developments to enhance the quality and facilities in Beacon Park for more people to use and enjoy.
Beacon Park features a range of facilities – from a children’s adventure play area and full size and junior football pitches, through to a café, formal gardens, tennis courts and more.
The park is also currently home to an 18-hole golf course, disc golf and foot golf, much of which is not used due to the quality of parts of the golf course that are water logged and often unplayable. We believe that with clever planning, we can make better use of the unused areas of the golf course, and introduce new facilities for more people to enjoy, whilst also enhancing the golfing experience in the park.
Our ambition is that the enhancements** listed below will be available for people to use and enjoy from summer 2025.

Enhanced / New facilities coming to Beacon Park:
Golf course
Enhanced
We’ll be enhancing the pitch and putt golf course by reducing it from 18 to 9 holes, allowing us to improve the fairways and greens. With more focus on maintenance, we’ll create a smoother, more enjoyable surface. This higher-quality course will offer a better experience for golfers of all skill levels.
Adventure golf
New
We’re working with MicroSports to bring an exciting new adventure golf experience to the park. Designed for family fun with a unique twist! Each of the 9 holes is themed around iconic local attractions, including Lichfield Cathedral, Lichfield Garrick and more.
Whether you’re young or young at heart, you’ll love the creative challenges and vibrant scenery that celebrate the best of the region.
Perfect for all ages, this adventure course will guarantee a really memorable experience for everyone
Padel tennis courts
New
We’re excited to be bringing three brand-new outdoor padel tennis courts, perfect for both novices and seasoned players.
Padel tennis combines elements tennis and squash, played on smaller enclosed courts with glass walls that add an exciting dynamic to the game.
The courts offer a fast-paced, fun experience, with the added feature of rebounds off the walls keeping the action going.
Nature reserve
New
We’ll be adding a new nature reserve, designed to attract new species and create diverse habitats for local wildlife.
The new wild area will feature beautiful walkways, allowing families and visitors to explore and enjoy nature up close.
By restoring natural environments and encouraging biodiversity, the habitat bank will also help developers offset their biodiversity requirements, contributing to more sustainable growth.
The nature reserve will become a thriving sanctuary for wildlife while providing a peaceful, eco-friendly space for all to enjoy and reconnect with the outdoors.
Wheelchair friendly bouncer
New
We’re excited to be introducing a new wheelchair-friendly bouncer to the adventure play area, designed to provide fun and inclusive play for everyone.
This addition will ensure that all children can experience the joy of bouncing safely, making our playground more accessible and enjoyable for all.
Covered area
New
We’ll be working to introduce a covered area, providing a versatile setting for activities like yoga, tai chi, woodland sessions and special events.
The demountable and sensitive structure will offer a sheltered environment for community use, while allowing us to remove it when not in use to prevent anti-social behaviour.
Victoria ice-house
Restored
We'll be reaching out to local groups to explore whether the ice-house, that was once part of Beacon Place, still exists and if so to explore plans to excavate it.
Finally, we'll be working to better balance the use of our sports pitches with events, to ensure we retain high quality pitches across the park and wider areas, whilst allowing a vibrant programme of events to take place.
