Burntwood park - Parks, heathlands and nature reserves

Burntwood Park is set in the former mining town of Burntwood in Lichfield District. The park opened in 1931 at a time when many houses were being built between the two World Wars. Covering an area of nearly 3 hectares of open space, trees, ornamental gardens, a play area and a sports area.

Burntwood Park has a range of play equipment including;

• Twin cableway, climbing units, swings, slides, rockers and spinners, with the added value of sand surfacing for sand play - suitable for all ages.
• Leisure football goals for informal play and a junior football pitch has been introduced recently.
• Small bike track for young children.
• Peace Woodland coppice area. 
• Tiny Forest.

Burntwood Park is open all year-round.

There are numerous pathways in and around the park, some of which slightly slope but are wide enough to allow wheelchair or mobility scooter users to pass each other with ease.

There are no steps within the park to get to different areas.  

Seating is available at regular intervals.

Play equipment suitable for various abilities, along with an Autism communication board.

Burntwood Park has several mature trees, along with the more recently planted Peace Woodland coppice area.  Please visit our trees and hedges and woodlands pages for more details on the management of trees.

The super tiny, super powerful, Miyawki method Tiny Forest was created in 2022 in conjunction with Severn Trent Water and Earthwatch, leaving a lasting environmental legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. There is a nearby bus stop on Cannock Road.
