Bands and total yearly charges

Whilst you pay your council tax bill to us, we only keep 9% of what you pay to deliver local services, including bin collections, parks, planning, benefits, regeneration, housing and homelessness, environmental health and much more. In 2024/2025 an average household (band D) will pay £3.71 a week towards the services we deliver.

We distribute the rest (91%) to other service providers including Staffordshire County Council (71%), the Staffordshire Commissioner to fund police and crime services (13%) and fire and rescue services (4%), and the rest goes to your local parish council.

The amount you pay each year depends on your property’s valuation band. The lower the band you are in, the less you will pay. This is also affected by the parish you live in, as the amount each parish council charges differs.

Use the below table to find out how much your council tax charge will be this financial year (2024/25). The figures do not include any discounts you may receive.
