We inspect all businesses that sell or handle food in the district, from the largest processors and manufacturers, to service providers, such as child minders who may supply meals or snacks to children in their care.
If you want to find out about the hygiene ratings of local food establishments, visit the government's national food safety system.
The definition of the premises ratings are: 5 = Very Good, 4 = Good, 3 = Generally Satisfactory, 2 = Improvement Necessary, 1 = Major Improvement Necessary and 0 = Urgent Improvement Necessary.
By allowing local people and potential customers access to inspection reports, it’s hoped that businesses will be encouraged to improve standards. The majority of Lichfield’s food premises are on the site, however some very low risk premises (e.g. childminders) which are exempt from the food hygiene rating scheme are not listed, although they are still inspected.
