The General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR)/Data Protection Act 2018 primarily deals with personal information we hold about you.

It places a responsibility on us to manage the way we obtain, hold, use, disclose and dispose of personal data, which is outlined in the six principles of the regulation.

Request access to your own personal information

A request for your personal information is known as a subject access request, and is generally free of charge.

To submit a subject access request, please email dpo@lichfielddc.gov.uk with the following information:

  • Your full name and any aliases you may have used in relation to council dealings
  • Your date of birth
  • Your address (or full address history if you want records relating to various addresses occupied in the district).

We may request you supply a form of ID confirming your name and latest address - such as a driver's licence so that we can be satisfied that we are responding to the correct person.

Once we are satisfied that the information supplied by you is sufficient and we have verified your identity, we will conduct a search of our systems for your personal information.

We are required to provide you the information, subject to any exemptions, within one month, although on occasion this can be extended by a further two months.
