Special personal data (article 9)
We (through Officers) MUST only process this kind of information where circumstances exist such as:
-
the individual has given explicit consent for one or more specified purposes;

it is necessary for employment/social security/social protection law purposes;
-
it is necessary in relation to legal claims, or,
-
it is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest.
Other grounds are potentially available.
**Again, if an Officer is unsure as to how to lawfully process special personal data then the advice of the Data Protection Officer should be sought**
