How to apply
Before applying:
- we recommend you measure the area you would like a licence for, and ensure that it leaves a minimum of 1.5 metres of pavement unobstructed outside the premises. Please remember that licences can only be granted for furniture that is on the pavement directly in front of the premises. Any advertising board (a-board) must be shown on the plan, within the area covered by the licence.
- please ensure you have completed the free Protect UK Counters Terrorism (ACT) Awareness e-learning - you will need to upload a copy of your certificate when you apply.
Please have the following ready before you apply:
- a plan showing the location of the premises and the area of the pavement that you propose to use.
- a copy of your public liability insurance to the value of £5million that covers the use of the pavement for this purpose.
- images to show the proposed furniture.
- your ACT Awareness e-learning certificate.
Once you have these ready, please apply online.
There is currently no fee for a new pavement licence or for the renewal of a pavement licence until 31 March 2026.
