The Countryside & Parks Conservation Group (CPCG) gives people a chance to play an important part in local conservation and to learn practical skills that are used to manage habitats and to conserve and encourage rare and protected species to thrive. Volunteers will work alongside our Parks Team who will be ready to answer any questions you might have about conservation.
Why volunteer for CPCG?
In addition to benefiting the local community and environment, volunteering also provides many social and personal benefits for the individuals involved. Benefits include:
- Developing conservation knowledge and skills - these may be an important route to employment.
- Improving health and well-being - physical exercise, especially outdoors, has been shown to have a highly positive impact on health and well-being. Also, social interactions and carrying out useful tasks help to build self-confidence, increase self-esteem and produce a sense of achievement.
- Enhancing the local environment - in addition to the invaluable benefits for wildlife, conservation tasks may also create or enhance places where people live or want to visit.
