About the Park
Burntwood Park is set in the former mining town of Burntwood in Lichfield District. The park opened in 1931 at a time when many houses were being built between the two World Wars. Covering an area of nearly 3 hectares of open space, trees, ornamental gardens, a play area and a sports area.
Visiting the park
Burntwood Park is open all year-round.
There is a bus stop on Cannock Road.
Burntwood Park is located on Elder Lane, just off Cannock Road, Burntwood. You can access directions here.
Free parking is available off Elder Lane.
Facilities
Burntwood Park has a range of play equipment including;
- Twin cableway, climbing units, swings, slides, rockers and spinners, with the added value of sand surfacing for sand play. Suitable for all ages.
- Leisure football goals for informal play and a junior football pitch has been introduced recently.
- Small bike track for young children.
Accessibility
There are numerous pathways in and around the park, some of which slightly slope but are wide enough to allow wheelchair or mobility scooter users to pass each other with ease.
There are no steps within the park to get to different areas. Seating is available at regular intervals.
Play equipment suitable for various abilities along with an Autism Communication Board.
Wildlife and landscape
Burntwood Park has several mature trees, along with the more recently planted Peace Woodland coppice area. Please visit our trees and hedges and woodlands pages for more details on the management of trees.
The super tiny, super powerful, Miyawki method Tiny Forest was created in 2022 in conjunction with Severn Trent Water and Earthwatch, leaving a lasting environmental legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Get involved
There is a range of volunteering opportunities in parks including; gardening, litter picking, be a tree keeper, helping with events, or help to guide the future of the park by being a Park Friend.
Keeping the park safe for all
Dogs are welcome in parks. We do ask that owners keep their dogs under control at all times and away from the enclosed play area. We also kindly ask that you always clean up after your dog.
Barbecues - we generally allow barbecues in our parks, but expect you to be sensible and to follow our guidance.
Metal detecting - we do not allow metal detecting to take place in our parks.
Drones - as landowner, the council does not permit drone operations over parks and open spaces, due to the safety and sensitivity of crowded areas. We may grant permission for professional drone operators for contractual filming who hold the relevant documentation, for more details please contact parks@lichfielddc.gov.uk.
