If you wish to raise money for charity through charitable collections, you will need a permit. Charitable collections fall into two categories:
- Street collections - most commonly this takes the form of a collector asking members of the public to make a donation in a collecting tin or box.
- House to house collections - this is the collection of money or items directly from a person's property.
There is no charge for either type of permit.
Street collections
You must submit an application at least one month before you wish to carry out the collection but as we limit the number of collections that can take place on any one day it is better to put your application in as soon as you know the date.
You can download an application form here and the following sections include the detail from our policy which explain what will be expected from you during and after the collection.
