Fly-tipping

How to prevent fly-tipping

You are responsible for ensuring the person you use to remove your waste is a registered waste carrier. You can search for a waste carrier on the Environment Agency’s website.

  • Don’t let someone take your rubbish until they have provided you with proof of their registration.
  • Ask how the rubbish will be disposed of.
  • Make sure you get a receipt showing details of the waste carrier and what was being removed.

If your rubbish is found fly tipped and traced back to you may be liable to a fixed penalty notice of £600 (reduced to £300 if paid within 10 days.)
