At anyone time betweeen 30 and 40 individuals and families are living in temporary accommodation, with an average of five additional households at risk of imminent need.
Each year we spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on temporary accommodation, often relying on bed and breakfast facilities outside the district.
To address this need we are working to deliver new temporary accommodation units across the district by investing over £2m of capital reserves generated from commuted sums and right to buy receipts to address the ongoing need for emergency housing for local residents facing housing crisis.
The initiative marks a crucial step forward in our commitment to reducing homelessness and supporting the most vulnerable members of our community.
The investment is significantly expanding our ability to provide quality temporary accommodation to local people - we're focusing on purchasing and refurbishing existing properties, so we can deliver these much-needed homes in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible, right where people need them most.
Our trading company Lichfield West Midlands Traded Services (LWMTS) is providing the management support and our housing team provides support to those living in our temporary accommodation.
