Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
As a private hire or taxi driver you'll need to get an enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) This is to make sure that you don't have a criminal history that would stop you from operating as a driver.
If you already subscribe to the DBS update service, you will need to provide us with the 12 digit DBS certificate number, which starts wtih 00. This is found on the top right hand side of your DBS certificate.
If you're an existing driver and do not subscribe to the DBS update service, you'll need to:
- get a new enhanced DBS check (unless your certificate is less than 30 days old.) This will cost an additional £61.64 as part of your online application.
- then sign up to the DBS update service. This costs £16 per year.
You must sign up for the update service.
