All of the waste which was fly-tipped in Lichfield’s Watery Lane yesterday has now been removed and the road is again accessible to vehicles.
A contractor arrived onsite at 7am today and the large quantity of waste was transferred throughout the morning from the lane into a container.
A road-sweeping vehicle has also cleared the road surface of any remnants of waste.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank residents and businesses in Watery Lane for their understanding while the clear-up operation took place.
Lichfield District Council is investigating the fly-tipping incident and is determined to trace and prosecute those responsible.
Did you drive down Wood End Lane at around 11pm on Sunday night (19 January 2025) or 12.45am on Monday morning (20 January 2025)?
Our environmental health officers are appealing to drivers to check their dashcam footage.
At both those times officers want to identify two HGV tipper trucks that reversed off Wood End Lane and down Watery Lane before dumping the waste and then driving back onto Wood End Lane.
Dashcam footage can be shared with officers via our evidence submission portal.
