Jobseekers have praised the variety of work positions available at Lichfield Jobs Fair this week.

The event, at the Guildhall in Bore Street, was attended by more than 300 people between 10am and 12noon on Tuesday, 17 October, with some 450 vacancies on offer in a wide range of sectors.

Organised by the Department of Work and Pensions in partnership with Lichfield District Council, representatives from 27 employers were on hand to meet jobseekers and offer advice.

Richard Moore from Burntwood said:

“It has been worthwhile coming here today. I need a job and hope this broadens my horizons.”

The face-to-face contact with jobseekers resulted in employers arranging more than 200 follow-up interviews.

Elaine Jones and Jo Rowley, of the Department for Work and Pensions, said:

“We are thrilled with the success of the event which has been very well received by employers and job seekers alike, and we look forward to seeing lots of positive outcomes for local people.

“A huge thanks to Lichfield District Council for their partnership and support in setting up the event, Bluebird Care for sponsoring the refreshments and to our DWP team for all their hard work in setting up the jobs fair.”

A spokesperson for Lichfield District Council added:

“We are delighted the Jobs Fair was a success.  Thank you to the DWP, the employers and jobseekers that came along and Lichfield City Council for its support.”

The next Lichfield Jobs Fair is set to take place in spring 2024.
