Lichfield District Council recently delivered a training session and workshop for local voluntary groups involved in animal welfare.

On 21 November members of the Animal Rescue Volunteers, and Staffordshire Rabbit & Guinea Pig Rescue, were invited to District Council House.

Environmental health officers delivered a presentation about how they respond to complaints about animal neglect, their role in inspecting and licensing activities that involve animals, and the range of powers that are available to them.

Councillor Richard Cox, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, attended the event and said:

“Lichfield District is very fortunate to have some brilliant volunteer groups involved in animal welfare, and they’re always looking for new members to join them.

“This was a worthwhile event and I’m excited to see how our environmental health officers and local volunteer groups can work closer together in the future.”
