If you haven't put your postal vote in a post box yet, and are worried it might not reach us on time, you can deliver it to either the district council house today and tomorrow between 9am and 5pm, or any polling station, between 7am & 10pm tomorrow (4 July 2024).

Please be aware however, that you will have to complete a form if you drop you postal vote off in person, and you can't just leave it or put it through our council house letter box. Filling in a form is a legal requirement and our staff have to ask you to complete it.

You must show photo ID to vote at polling stations in the general election on 4 July 2024. Common photo IDs that you can use include:

Passport (this doesn't need to be in date, but it needs to be recent enough to look like you)
Driving licence (including provisional license)
Blue badge
Specific travel cards (such as an older person’s bus pass or disabled person’s bus pass)

Van linked to fly-tipping seized by council

Environmental Health Officers from Lichfield District Council seized a van in Warwickshire last month, after linking it to waste offences that were committed in Lichfield District earlier last year.

The officers took the van from a workplace near Coleshill on 11 December 2023 with support from a recovery vehicle and Warwickshire Police. The council published a Notice of Seizure on its website.

Cabinet Member Councillor Alex Farrell said:

“This should send a strong message that fly-tipping won’t be tolerated in Lichfield District. In every case where officers can identify the vehicle involved, their first consideration is to seize it.

“Offenders now face a surprise visit to their home or workplace and having their vehicle and the contents taken away. If the matter goes to court, along with facing up to five years in prison and an unlimited fine, the council will ask the magistrates to order that the vehicle is forfeited.”
