A special summer family fun day in Beacon Park, organised by Lichfield District Council, drew hundreds of people eager to enjoy the activities on offer.

Youngsters got stuck into a variety of sports organised by Active Lichfield on Wednesday, 7 August including soft archery, panna football and basketball, were delighted by a barefoot Walk, and the Parks Team ran the teddy races along with a number of fun stalls.

There were also fairground rides from Charles Harris Fun Fair which runs Lichfield Kids World in Beacon Park, a glitter and tattoo stall, food stalls and representatives from Lichfield District Council’s Community Safety Team, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, the RNLI, Uniting Staffordshire Against Hate and Matt Fiddes Martial Arts.

Ranger Ted, the Parks mascot was on hand entertaining the young and not so young throughout and the event was supported by volunteers from NTT Data, Inc., Friends of Lichfield Historic Parks and Beacon Park’s community gardeners.

Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Operational Services, Parks and Waste, Councillor Phil Whitehouse, said:

“I’m really pleased that so many people, more than 700, came along to the fun day in Beacon Park and had such a good time. It’s a real highlight in the park’s calendar and I’d like to thank the Parks Team for organising the event and the volunteers who supported it.”
