Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park takes place this Saturday, 7 September.

The fabulous Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park takes place this Saturday (7 September) and everyone is invited to the celebration of its 25th year.

Thousands of residents, along with fans from across the region and beyond, are expected to gather in the park for the free concert where they will enjoy their picnics to the sound of wonderful music as the sun goes down.

The City of Lichfield Concert Band plays from 6pm to 7pm. A community wind band featuring 45 musicians of all ages from across the area, they play a mixture of popular classical music, medleys, jazz, film scores and pop.

The British Police Symphony Orchestra will then wow the audience from 7.30pm with a special programme including the stirring Proms classic Pomp & Circumstance by Elgar before the fireworks finale.

There is plenty to entertain children with the fun zone rides plus a selection of food stalls if you would like to get your refreshments at the event.

The Proms is a free event but this is only made possible each year through the generous support of business sponsors.

This year our thanks go to Platinum sponsors Zest Education, Gold sponsors BHB Architects and Strongs Plastic Products, Silver sponsors Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad, Lichfield Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Prizm Solutions and Bronze sponsors Adcocks Solicitors, Keelys Solicitors and Beacon Street Garage. Thanks also to Lichfield City Council and Swinfen Broun Charitable Trust for supporting the event with grants.

Lichfield District Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Leisure and Major Projects, Councillor Andy Smith, said:

“Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park is one of the most popular events in the district’s calendar and I’m delighted that it is celebrating its 25th year.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the generous sponsors who support the event and our Parks Team, who work so hard staging it.

“Proms is the perfect family event and it’s free for everyone to enjoy so don’t miss it.”
