A team of young footballers are proudly wearing their new kit for the 2024/25 season sponsored by Lichfield West Midlands Traded Services (LWMTS), a company wholly-owned by Lichfield District Council.
Chasetown Under 8s - formerly Mercia Juniors Under 8s - play in the Burton Junior Football League and are based at The Friary School. Their new kit includes Home and Away tops with LWMTS printed on the front and is already spurring them on to success.
Last month the team won their final in The One Tournament World Club Championship, an 8v8 youth football competition held at the University of Warwick.
Team coaches John McKenzie and Leon Jennings said:
“We wore our kits for the first time and collected our first bit of silverware.
“Let’s hope we continue winning in our new kit. We are very grateful to our sponsors, LWMTS and Lichfield District Council, for supporting our community grassroots football team, which is Lichfield-based and plays in the Burton League and trains at the Friary School on Eastern Avenue.”
Councillor Alex Farrell, Chair of LWMTS, said:
“We are proud to support this local under 8s football team and we wish them well this season.
“Sponsoring a local football club is not just about the sport, it’s about investing in our community and its future. It’s also consistent with the council’s aim to encourage the district’s residents to be more active, for longer and more often.”
