We are committed to putting residents’ views at the heart of future development planning and are calling on the local community to help shape the vision for the district up to 2043 by taking part in our consultation.
We aim to gather insights from at least 10,000 residents, ensuring as many voices as possible are heard to help in designing a built future that reflects local priorities, values, and aspirations.
Councillor Alex Farrell, Cabinet Member for Housing and Local Plan, emphasised the importance of local input:
“Your views are vital. To achieve a balance between development needs and preserving the essence of Lichfield District, we need your insights. We urge all residents to engage with us – we’re listening, and your ideas will guide the path forward.”
Through this new local plan, we want to ensure new homes, schools, roads, and services align with what matters most to our community. Resident opinions are essential to balancing growth with protecting our natural landscapes, enhancing our infrastructure, and creating employment opportunities in a way that serves the people of Lichfield District.
Earlier this year, a ‘call for sites’ identified potential locations that could meet future needs, and we are now keen to hear what you think of these and other ideas.
We invite residents from across the district to get involved and give their views by answering five key questions, which will directly influence our planning approach:
- Where should we build new homes?
- Where should new employment opportunities be located?
- What infrastructure improvements do you believe are essential to support growth?
- What features or areas would you most like to see protected?
- How do you envision Lichfield District looking by 2043?
We will carry out a full consultation in 2025, but your feedback now will help shape the foundations of the Local Plan before it progresses further.
