We are encouraging all residents to participate in the 2025/26 budget consultation by sharing their views on how the council funds should be allocated in the next financial year.
The consultation, which runs until 13 December, gives every resident the opportunity to influence future spending decisions in the district.
The council has launched the survey that provides detailed context about how the projected £14 million budget[1] for local services in 2025/26 was initially allocated in the financial strategy so that residents can easily share whether they would like to see more, less, or the same level of spending on a range of services.
While essential services such as waste collection, recycling, environmental health, and housing have mandatory budgets to ensure the service is safe, compliant and effective, the council is seeking feedback on how discretionary budgets for other projects should be prioritised for the next financial year.
Councillor Rob Strachan, Cabinet Member for Finance and Commissioning, said:
“Councils nationwide are facing increasing demands on services alongside rising costs and reduced funding. With limited resources, it is crucial that we make informed decisions on how to allocate spending. The views of our residents are essential in helping us set our priorities locally. We urge everyone to take part and share their thoughts with us.”
