Lichfield District Council is one of the first local authorities in the country to offer this facility.

Following a successful trial on waste services, residents can now use WhatsApp to contact us for assistance with all services.

We are one of the first local authorities in the country to offer the latest support, providing residents with a more convenient way of contacting our customer services team.

After initially launching for waste and recycling queries in July 2024, WhatsApp can now be used for all services and could include:

  • Reporting a missed bin collection
  • Making a noise complaint
  • Seeking advice on how to claim housing benefit and council tax support.

Messaging via WhatsApp means residents no longer have to wait on a phone line, be present on a live chat, write to us, email us or come in to see us.

They can go about their day reassured that their query has been received and is being dealt with.

Our customer service team aim to respond within two hours if messages are received before 4pm. Messages sent after 4pm, or outside working hours, will be replied to the next working day.

Lichfield District Council Leader, Councillor Doug Pullen, said:

“I want any resident in Lichfield District to be able to contact us easily, at a time to suit them – and I know just how convenient WhatsApp is for many of us.

“This is perfect for any non-urgent enquiries, and the goal of a same-day response for messages sent before 4pm is brilliant.”
