Representatives from Cardo Central present food vouchers for people in need to Lichfield District Council staff.

Our commitment to securing social value from contracts with suppliers has seen a building contractor donate food vouchers for people in need.

Cardo Central, which has developed five new bedsits in Bore Street for homeless people on behalf of the council, has also donated Aldi food vouchers for each occupant.

The donation was made through our social value initiative which aims to see local residents benefit directly from procurement spend.  This ensures that for every pound spent by us on the delivery of goods, services and works, that pound also delivers wider social, economic, or environmental benefits to the community.

Councillor Rob Strachan, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Financing and Commissioning, said:

“I’d like to thank Cardo Central for making this kind donation. The Aldi food vouchers will be used by our Housing Options Team to give to the vulnerable people we will be rehousing.”

Cardo Central Managing Director Leigh Bullock said:

“We are thrilled to have completed the refurbishment project at Bore Street, transforming the building into five welcoming bedsits for new tenants.

“As part of our commitment to social value, we are delighted to support our community by donating Aldi food vouchers to each tenant and gifting a Christmas tree to Lichfield District Council. Together, we are building a brighter, more connected future.”
