There are a number of laws which apply to people who own or are in charge of a dog. We are responsible for enforcing these laws.
The majority of dog owners are responsible - they pick up after their dogs and keep them under proper control.
There are however a minority of people who don’t do these things and potentially cause harm to other animals, the environment and public health. This section details your responsibilities as a landowner and the powers we have to address dog control issues.
If you have lost or found a dog, please visit our lost, found and stray dogs section.
To report dog fouling on council owned land or the highways, please fill in our online form.
If the dog fouling is on private land, please contact the landowner.
