If you would like to sell items on any streets in the district or any public area, you will need to apply for a street trading consent, even if the street is privately owned. A public area is anywhere the general public can access without paying.
There are three types of street trading consent:
- General street trading consent – if you would like to trade from a stall or mobile unit on a street or layby you will need a general street trading consent. You can apply for an annual consent or an occasional pitch.
- Special event street trading consent – if you would like to trade as part of a street trading event, such as a food festival or Christmas event you can apply via the event organiser for a short term consent which will allow you to trade at the event only.
- Mobile or roaming street trading consent - if you wish to trade as a roaming or mobile trader, such as an ice cream van, you will need a roaming street trading consent.
If you are granted a street trading consent, it will allow you to trade at a specific location or locations and at specific times of day.
Please note: Street trading is prohibited on the A38.
