Community right to challenge

The Localism Act introduced new community rights that aim to devolve power from government to communities, local authorities and individuals.

Find out more, visit www.mycommunityrights.org.uk

The right to challenge gives local groups the opportunity to express their interest in taking over a local service where they think they can do it differently and better.

We invite expressions of interest between 1 and 30 June every year (this is known as the set period).

We make decisions in accordance with the provisions of the Localism Act. We acknowledge receipt of expressions, and we will let you know the date by which you will receive a decision on your application, within 30 days of the end of the set period.

If we accept your expression, we will invite your organisation to compete in an open procurement exercise. Read the understanding the community right to challenge guide to find out more.

If you would like to chat to us before expressing an interest, please call 01543 308741.
