Thousands of pounds in funding available to voluntary and community groups in Lichfield District

Applications are welcome from any organisation that can make an impact.
There are two stages to the VCS application process.

Lichfield District Council is inviting voluntary and community groups in the area to apply for a share of thousands of pounds in funding which is being made available to help them deliver their valuable services.

The Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Funding Programme 2024-2027 has been launched this week, to help the wide range of groups that support district residents and enhance their lives.

Through the programme £163,000 is available per year for three years - £489,000 in all - with a minimum award per organisation of £1,000 per year for those successful in applying.

It is unlikely any one organisation will be awarded more than £50,000 per year so that as many as possible can be supported and although all awards will be made across the three-year cycle there is no obligation to submit applications for a full three years of funding.

There are two stages to the application process. The first requires completion of an online application form (a paper version is available from reception at District Council House in Frog Lane) to be submitted by 10 November.

Applicants will then be notified if they have been shortlisted for the second stage where they will be invited to complete a questionnaire and project delivery plan.

An informal online briefing will take place on Teams on Friday 3 November with details on the prospectus and the application process followed by a brief Q and A session. To register for the meeting email policyandstrategyteam@lichfielddc.gov.uk

Councillor Richard Cox, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, said:

“We are fortunate to have a wide network of established, committed voluntary and community groups here that are vital to the wellbeing of many people.

“Our emerging 2050 Strategy aims to deliver confident, prosperous, active and green communities and the VCS Funding Programme will provide vital support to the voluntary sector in support of this aim.

“We look forward to receiving applications from any organisation that can make an impact and help create a positive legacy for the district.”
