How we assess expressions of interest

Your expressions of interest should contain the following information:

Criteria Description
Economic benefit For example how many visitors you will attract, whether you will procure services locally, whether your event will promote local services, how you will contribute towards delivering our 2050 strategic plan, and whether you recruit locally.
Experience We will look at how experienced you are, including your past performance in managing similar events in the district or elsewhere and your awareness of how to comply with relevant legislation and guidance.
Financial viability We will look at how financially viable your event plan is, and whether you will be able to pay your hire and other related costs in a timely manner, including hire costs and deposit bonds up front.
Community and promotion We will consider how well your event promotes our district as a vibrant and attractive place to live, work and visit, and how well your event will encourage community engagement, supporting cultural, economic and social growth for the district.
Environmental impact We will look at the impact of your event on issues like noise, vibration, fumes and disruption to local communities and the environment, including waste management and recycling.

If your expression of interest is for a returning event or you are an event organiser that has held an event in the district in the last 12 months, all outstanding bills to Lichfield District Council must have been fully paid prior to submitting your expression of interest, otherwise it will be rejected.

Once we have received your expression of interest form, a panel of officers will review your application and based on the information you have provided. We will either contact you for clarification or let you know whether your expression of interest has been successful.

Where we have competing or equally scoring applications, we may invite you in to present your ideas in more detail to a panel of officers and members.

If you fail to provide adequate information or the information you provide does not satisfy our requirements, we may reject your expression of interest.

We recommend you do not make any firm arrangements or take bookings until you have received confirmation as to whether your expression of interest has been successful. If your expression of interest is successful we will expect you to positively work with us through the event planning process, including adhering to timescales for submitting an event management plan and engaging with/delivering requirements set out by members of the safety advisory group.
